Adventure - Mini Album

Mini Album for the March Creative Embellishments Challenge!
This months challenge over on the Creative Embellishments Blog was to "...be inspired by 1 element from the photo below (let us know what it is) and by this quote: 'Every great adventure requires a first step.'"

I was inspired by the color! I love using black and white...especially when I just happen to have some lovely black & white papers that need to be used!

Inspiration photo for the March Creative Embellishments Challenge!
For the album I cut a thick piece of chipboard to use as a spine with the Creative Embellishment's 5-page Square Mini Album, and I just had to add the Stars In My Universe Frame (also from Creative Embellishments), with some Rocky Road Baked Texture on it, to the cover!

Christmas Tag!

The tag I made for the "Glorious Holiday Tag Swap!" hosted by Donna (bonprof) over at scrapbook.com!

I sprayed the canvas, texture pasted the canvas, sprayed it some more, and added some glitter paste in select spots! (Good news, I finally got a webcam, someday I hope to make videos...it is just so much easier than typing it all out! I assume anyhow, at least I'll be able to say "Here, watch this!" LOL)

I wrapped the gold wire around a tape roll (packing tape size) to make the wreath base, then just started sticking the pine needle die cuts around it. The ornaments are from ReneaBouquets (link in product list), as is the glitter I used to "fill in" some of the areas of them. I embossed them with Red Geranium Embossing Powder (Ranger) and added a light coat of Rose Gold Metallique Wax (Prima). I did the same to the Merry Christmas.

Yes, it lights up!

Christmas Teacup

My first tea cup art, just in time for Christmas!

Handle side, side view! This was a learning experience for me, and I learned that I need more Mod Podge to hold down the pieces against the strain of the Crackle Paint! You can also se some of the beautiful Shard Glitter Glass & Microbeads I added to the spoon!

The other side of the cup. Here I added some of the Microbeads to the pine cone & some Shard Glitter Glass & Microbeads just under the edge of the pine cone. Plus, in the center of the poinsettias are some more Microbeads.

A closer look at the spoon.

Wedding Congratulations!

Congratulations (A wedding card)
This past weekend the husband and I went to a wedding of some very dear friends. We've known the groom for over 11 years, and about 6 1/2 years ago we met the bride. We knew that someday we would be going to their wedding, even if they didn't know it at the time! It was a beautiful ceremony, and we were so honored and happy to be there with them for it!

As for the card, it is rather straight forward. I did make the flowers myself, and was constantly reminded why I don't do that! But, I needed those colors right NOW! So I had no real choice in the matter!!

In addition to my handmade, mulberry paper flowers, there is some vintage lace (no brand, got it off eBay a few months ago), some random twine, and some unbranded stamen. Plus, the beautiful butterfly is from ReneaBouquets! It came on the business card in one of my orders, and it worked perfectly for this card!! (Thank you, Renea!)

The card stock, patterned paper, and embossed paper are all from the Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit, and the sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp "Floral Bliss" stamp set (links at the bottom in the "Product List" area).

The inside says:
"May you forever find joy in each others eyes,
warmth in each others arms,
love in each others heart."

I just printed it out on some "linen" printer paper and used my ATG to stick it down! (Oh, I found the quote on Pinterest, I'm not that poetic!)

I will be entering this little project into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday "Anything Goes" Challenge!

colder weather

colder weather layout! (the shards along the edges of the torn paper behind the photo are Silver Glitter Shard Glass by ReneaBouquets, but I took the photo with no flash so there wouldn't be glare off the shards or the metallic words at the top!)
Over at scrapbook.com, Amanda (scrapanda) hosts the Music Inspiration Challenge! For September I was given the song "Colder Weather" by the Zac Brown Band (lyrics link; video link), and this is what I came up with!

Way back when... (bet. 2002-2007) I lived in Michigan. This is a photo looking out our back door towards the dilapidated old barn that was on the property. I love the snow. I miss the snow. I don't necessarily miss being cold 😄, but I have always found snow to be beautiful.

In addition to the Music Inspiration Challenge, I am also entering this in the October 1st, Stuck?! Sketches Challenge, using the following sketch as inspiration!

As you can see, I rotated the sketch 90°, and instead of rings and splatters, I used snowflakes from two Simon Says Stamps sets, "Frozen Fractals" and "Swell Christmas."

October 1st Stuck?! Sketches Challenge.

Product List:
  • ReneaBouquets Silver (Shard) Glitter Glass - (this is the 1st time I've ever used it ... had to see how it worked and all! I already have other projects lined up now [in my head] and I know I have found a new product to LOVE!)

  • The snowflake cuts I've had for quite a while. They came as a "subscriber bonus" with a Birds of a Feather Kit...and those kits haven't been released since Feb. 2016!
  • The clear gem...teardrop...bling also came from a Birds of a Feather Kit, I think circa Aug. 2014.

Quick Birthday ATCs!

Couple of quick Birthday ATCs I made using the September Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp!

All of the products are from the September (2017) Simon Says Stamp Card Kit!

Except the die used to cut the tag, that came with my Sizzix Big Shot Plus, and the embossing powder that came with October's Card Kit!

Entered in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday, Anything Goes, Challenge!

Sweeeet!

Sweeeet! ATCs
I made this set of ATCs for Marci's ATC swap over at scrapbook.com! The category was "Sweet Treat," and after thinking and thinking and looking at ideas on Pinterest and anywhere I could find them, I happened to come across this cupcake cut file in the Silhouette Store! After that, I knew what I would be doing! I'm also going to enter them into the Simon Says Stamp, "Anything Goes," Wednesday Challenge!

The patterened paper for the backgrounds came from the Simon Says Stamp September Card Kit, the twine I've had forever, the pink in the "frosting" is Shimmerz Paste-eez "Raspberry Sherbet," and the white "frosting" is Prima Snowflake Paste! All the other colors, except the "chocolate," came from Tim Holtz Distress Crayons or Distress Oxides! The "chocolate" is a Bic Mark-It in "Woodsey Brown."

I used the Distress Crayons on the bottom layer of the cupcake wrapper, and the Distress Oxides on the wrapper layer with the chevrons and the layer on the frosting with the circles cut out.

Product List:
  • Background papers are from the Simon Says Stamp September Card Kit!
  • Twine ... ::shrug::
  • Shimmerz Paste-eez "Raspberry Sherbet"
  • Bic Mark-It "Woodsey Brown"
  • 140# watercolor paper
  • Prima Snowflake Paste
  • Ranger Glossy Accents
  • Tim Holtz Distress Crayons & Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, & Seedless Preserves

Tiger Lilly!

Tiger Lilly

Sometimes I just experiment, I get "I wonder..." and "What if..." thoughts in my head and I have to try them out! Sometimes I experiment because I have a shiny new product to try out! In the case of this tag, it was a little of both!

I had cut out tags the other day using my Cameo, and I decided I wanted to coat them in dark colors. One was done with black acrylic paint, and the other (the top one) was done with some Tattered Angels - Plain Jane Collection - Stained Glass - Semi Matte Glaze - Green. I've had the bottle for about three years now, I forgot I owned it!

Well, I live in a dry climate, and I basically had some goo in a bottle at this point, but I decided to see if I could rehydrate enough to use one last time. After adding some water & rubbing alcohol I managed to get some lumpy green liquid in a bottle! LOL! It was just enough to coat a tag.

At this point I wasn't sure what to do with my newly coated tags, so I went browsing through my stamps and when I came across my Penny Black Tiger Lilly I decided to practice using my Distress Oxides on a dark background!

Love the "Water Droplets" created by Ryn at Designs by Ryn!
When I get to experimenting I have a tendency to do things rather backwards. I stamped and colored my Tiger Lilly, then decided I needed to add more to the tag! I used some scrap plastic to make a quick mask for the Tiger Lilly so I could add some plaid to the background with more Distress Oxides and Tim Holtz's "Stripes" ATC stamp for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge! Then I decided to use my "Water Droplets" stamp by Ryn at Designs by Ryn to see how those droplets would look on a dark background as well! I like it personally, and I'll be sharing/entering this tag in Ryn's monthly challenge!

You can really see those water droplets here across the flower!
I still wanted more on the tag, I thought there was too much empty space! I decided to at some stenciling!! Now, because Distress Oxides are a pigment and dye ink hybrid, the Snowflake Paste by Prima activated the dye ink and absorbed it! (I planned on this happening!!) Now I had some shiny, greenish honeycomb on my tag! And to keep the paste off my water droplets? Artist's tape. As the final touch I added the little bee and embossed it in Ranger's Gold Embossing Powder!

That Snowflake Paste absorbed some of the colors from the Distress Oxides underneath!
Product List:
  • "Water Droplets" stamp created by Ryn at Designs by Ryn!
  • Tattered Angels - Plain Jane Collection - Stained Glass - Semi Matte Glaze - 1.35 Ounce Bottle - Green
  • Silhouette Cameo
  • Prima Snowflake Paste

imagine {tag}

imagine tag!
Ok, I have this 'thing' where I have decided to go back to 2007 and complete all of Tim Holtz's "12 Tags of ..." series'. I started doing the "12 Tags of 2015" with January 2015 and finish all of the tags for 2015 & 2016! I was heart-broken when it was announced that there would not be a 12 Tags of 2017! I mean really, after 10 years of tags?!?! Ok, I get it, 10. Years. Of. Tags! At the rate I'm going it may be 2027 before I am "caught-up"! Anyhow, this is my tag inspired by #5 of "12 Tags of 2007". Basically, it was "use alcohol ink," somehow I turned it into "use alcohol ink on Yupo, and to keep things interesting toss in some Distress Oxides & pastes!" And wait, and wait, and wait for everything to dry (can't heat Yupo, it makes it expand ... or so I read, didn't really want to test it!). Then proced to NEVER touch the surface of the tag, because it's Yupo, and everything "floats" on the surface. (Maybe I'll add some sealer today...)

Black Soot Distress Oxide for "imagine," Shimmerz Paste-eez Hold the Mustard & Raspberry Sherbet with Tim Holtz's "Harlequin" stencil.

The clouds are stamps from Simon Says Stamp's "Sea You Soon" set.

My Garden Friends butterfly!

Peacock ATCs!

This was one of those projects that started with a vague idea and I just followed where all the trials and mishaps took me! The ATCs aren't exactly what I had in mind, but I'm still content with what came out of the process!

Peacock ATC set!
I made this ATC set for MarciLB's ATC Swap over at scrapbook.com! I'm also going to be entering them in to Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge "Distress It."

These are a rather straight forward process, a lot of Cameo sketch pen work and cutting, followed by a lot of coloring!

For the 'green' of the peacock's tail I mixed Peeled Paint & Lucky Clover Distress Oxides on my work surface with some water & used my water brush to paint!

For the 'stone' I used Weathered Wood & Pumice Stone Distress Crayons and blended them.

After the Crazing Distress Collage Medium was dry, I used a blending tool to add the Frayed Burlap Distress Ink to the surface.

Cut Files:
  • All cut files came from the Silhouette Store.
Product List:
  • Silhouette Cameo & Pen holder with uni-ball gel pen, micro line, with "uni Super Ink." I seriously love this pen, it makes nice, fine lines, and it holds up to water!
  • Watercolor paper
  • the green background paper is from an OLD K & Company stack from their "Designer Paper" series. And I mean OLD, like probably 2009, and in scrapbook years, that's ANCIENT!! LOL!!
